Mediator to Be Appointed
Environment and Labour Minister David Morse will appoint a mediator in the negotiations between the Province of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union as soon as possible.
"I believe the appointment of a mediator, which hopefully will lead to an negotiated settlement, is in the public interest as well as the interests of both parties," said Mr. Morse.
The two parties have publicly indicated their support for the appointment of a mediator.
Mediation is a normal dispute-settling mechanism that is part of the collective bargaining process.
