Sydney Property Sold

The sale of surplus government land in Sydney will generate an $85,000 payment toward the province's debt said Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron Russell.

Cabinet has approved the sale of four acres of surplus land -- the former Sydney City Hospital site -- to Anthony Magliaro under terms of the Surplus Crown Property Disposal Act.

"This fulfills a commitment we've made to sell land that we don't need," said Mr. Russell. "After confirming that no provincial department or agency required that property, we went through a public process to ensure taxpayers got the best possible return and we're satisfied that's the case here."

The hospital hill property had been listed with Marquis Realty of Sydney.
