Nova Scotia Country Fair
Dive into Atlantic Canada's maritime history at the Nova Scotia Country Fair, Aug. 9 - 11. Presented by the Nova Scotia Museum, this family event will take place in the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic courtyard at 1675 Lower Water St., Halifax.
"We are very excited to be hosting this event for the first time," said museum director Michael Murray. "It offers visitors the opportunity to experience the rich culture and heritage that the Nova Scotia Museum offers."
Visitors can experience the life of a fisherman, learn of the province's shipbuilding heritage, discover fossils and learn of a time when dinosaurs roamed Nova Scotia. Daily life in an authentic turn-of-the-century village and tales of the high seas in a captain's cabin can also be experienced.
The fair will showcases seven provincial museums: Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Museum of Natural History, Ross Farm Museum, Lawrence House, Sherbrooke Village, Fundy Geological Museum and Fisherman's Life Museum. Visitors can catch a glimpse into the unique aspects of Nova Scotia culture and heritage that each museum offers.
The Maritime Museum's courtyard will be bustling with activities, including concerts, model-boat building, bug cooking, fossil digging, removable sailor tattoos, handcrafts, demonstrations and displays from various sites.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, $1 for children aged 6-17 years, free for children aged 5 years and under and $7 for a family. Combined museum and fair passes will also be available.
