Camp Kidston Ready to Reopen
Health officials today have given staff from Camp Kidston the green light to reopen the facility.
The summer camp was closed late last month after dozens of campers and staff became sick with a suspected gastrointestinal virus.
"The camp has been cleaned and inspectors are satisfied that the facility is ready to receive campers again," said Dr. Robert Strang, medical officer of health. "Staff have also received a food-safety course to reinforce the importance of proper food handling and food preparation techniques, which could have been a factor in the spread of the illness."
Camp Kidston is expected to begin its next session on Saturday, Aug. 3.
