U-Pick and U-Fish Operations Web Site
A Web site that details Nova Scotia u-pick and u-fish operations has all the information needed to plan summer activities.
The Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Fisheries launched the Web site in 2001 to give residents and tourists information about the 47 participating u-pick and u-fish operations around the province.
"We have been working over the winter and spring with participating operators to update the site and add new information," said project co-ordinator Elinor Maher. "We hope that this site helps to educate consumers about the variety of choices available and encourage greater use of Nova Scotia foods."
The directory can be found at www.gov.ns.ca/nsaf/marketing/contact/u-pick/ .
Visitors to the site can:
- search by commodities (for example, strawberries, pumpkins, apples)
- search by Nova Scotia counties
- find travel directions
- learn what other amenities are available at each location
- find tourist attractions in the local area; and
- find recipes and health information.
People are encouraged to call the operators before visiting to check on conditions and hours of operation.
