Minister Thanks Students for Cake

Education Minister Jane Purves thanked students from the Nova Scotia Student Advocacy Coalition for birthday cakes delivered to her office, and to the Nova Scotia legislature, today. The students presented the cake, to show the minister that they too understood rising numbers with regard to student debt.

"Although I wasn't in the office to receive the cake personally, I appreciate the good wishes and the sentiment behind it," said Ms. Purves. "Helping students manage debt is an important issue, and I expect to present them with good news well before my next birthday."

The minister said she expects to honour the commitment with a student debt management plan, promised in the 2002-03 budget, in the very near future.
