EDUCATION--Province Selects Key Players for Sir John A. Renovation
Key players in the renovation and upgrade of Sir John A. Macdonald High School are on board and work will soon begin on the site.
O'Halloran Campbell Consultants Ltd. has been selected as the project manager. Harvey and MacKenzie Ltd. is the architectural firm.
"We're exactly where we should be to complete the first phase of Sir John A.," said Charles Clattenburg, the Department of Education's director of facilities management. "The planning process is well under way now that we have the architect and project manager on board."
Students will return to the school in January 2003 once health and safety issues are remedied.
The Department of Education is now working with Transportation and Public Works and consultants to determine what will be done in each phase of the $13-million project. Work is expected to begin in late August.
The Sir John A. school steering team has been selected and will hold its first meeting next week. The team includes school and board staff and student and community representatives. It will provide advice and input on the renovation process.
