Director of Communications
Premier John Hamm today announced that Peter Spurway is the new Director of Communications for the Premier's Office.
"Peter Spurway brings a wealth of private- and public-sector communications experience to our team," said Premier Hamm. "It's crucial that Nova Scotians understand the improvements we are making, especially in areas such as health care, education and the economy. Peter will play a key leadership role in this regard."
A former teacher and broadcaster, Mr. Spurway was employed for five years as communications director for the province's Department of Justice. During that time, he also took on several special communications assignments, such as the Working Committee on the Constitution. He has also worked as the director of communications and public affairs with the QEII Health Sciences Centre and was vice-president, Atlantic Canada, for Weber Shandwick, one of the world's largest communications and public affairs firms.
"I am delighted that Peter decided to leave the private sector to again serve the people of Nova Scotia," said the premier.
The appointment is effective Monday, July 15.
