Nova Scotia to Host Premiers and Territorial Leaders
PREMIER'S OFFICE--Nova Scotia to Host Premiers and Territorial Leaders
Canada's premiers and territorial leaders will be in Nova Scotia this summer. Premier John Hamm announced today that Halifax will host the 43rd annual premiers' conference, to be held July 31- Aug. 2.
"Halifax has a world-class reputation for hosting major events," said the premier. "I am delighted that our government will be able to showcase Halifax to our country's leaders."
The theme of this year's conference, Co-operating for Canadians, will reflect the practical approach Premier Hamm hopes to bring as chair of the meeting.
"Our working together as governments will allow the citizens we represent to reap the rewards. That's why over the last year, provincial and territorial governments have focused on achieving results for the people of Canada," said the premier. "As a consequence, we have made considerable progress in areas of importance to Canadians such as health care. I want this year's conference to build on this success."
Over 200 officials and media are expected to attend this year's conference. Official meetings will occur at the World Trade and Convention Centre. Nova Scotia last hosted the annual premiers' conference in 1993.
