Tribute to Alexa McDonough
Premier's Office
Premier John Hamm praised federal NDP leader and Halifax MP Alexa McDonough, who today announced her intention to step down as federal leader.
"For over 20 years, Alexa McDonough has been a true public servant to her constituents, both in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly and the Parliament of Canada," said the premier. "On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I would like to thank her for bringing energy and dedication to her vision of social justice in this country."
From 1993 to 1995, Premier Hamm served alongside Ms. McDonough in the Nova Scotia legislature.
"As Ms. McDonough prepares to begin a new chapter in her life, Genesta and I extend to her and her sons, Justin and Travis, our very best wishes," concluded the premier.
