Success Through Partnerships
During Environment Week, June 2 to 8, the Department of Environment and Labour salutes all the partners who help it protect Nova Scotia's land, water and air for future generations.
"The provincial government is only one part of a much larger network made up of other governments, community groups, industries and private individuals who all have an interest in protecting the health and well-being of our environment," said Environment and Labour Minister David Morse. "All of these groups deserve recognition for working together and accepting responsibility for our environment."
As an example, the minister noted that the pollution awareness campaign announced last week for Lunenburg involves dozens of partners, including the municipality, Clean Nova Scotia and schools in the area.
Mr. Morse also acknowledged that the province celebrated the recycling of one billion beverage containers last fall because Nova Scotians have made recycling part of their daily routine. Recycling items like tin cans, bottles and newsprint has contributed to the growth of more than 3,000 jobs in the province's waste-resource management sector over the past five years.
