Museums Across Nova Scotia Celebrate Museum Weekend
Celebrate Nova Scotia's history and experience your community's heritage on Museum Weekend, June 8 and 9.
A visit to museums throughout the province will allow you to experience many things including participating in a log-drive, discovering Canada's oldest dinosaurs, helping to plant a Loyalist-era garden, playing games from the 1800s, sampling old-fashioned recipes or learning a gaelic dance.
"Museums are more than stewards of our past," said Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism and Culture. "They are active and interactive community centres that reflect the heart and spirit of who we are as Nova Scotians."
The 7th annual Museum Weekend highlights the province's rich heritage and the significant role museums play in preserving and interpreting local culture and natural history. Nova Scotians are encouraged to visit a museum, learn about the people and events that shaped their community and try hands-on activities.
