Jubilee Tea to be Held at Government House
Myra Freeman, lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia, invites all Nova Scotians to join her for the Golden Jubilee Tea in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The tea will be held on Sunday, June 2, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Government House, 1451 Barrington St., Halifax. This date has been chosen by the Queen for celebrations throughout the Commonwealth. The Golden Jubilee Tea will replace this year's Garden Party.
"This gathering is an opportunity for Nova Scotians to celebrate our heritage and reflect on the special ties we have with the monarchy," said the lieutenant-governor. "We must never lose sight of our good fortune to live in a beautiful province and a peaceful country that is part of the Commonwealth."
The tea is in keeping with the Golden Jubilee themes of being open and accessible to all, celebrating, giving thanks, involving the whole community and looking to the future as well as reflecting on the past.
In commemoration of the Queen's 50 years of service, a book of congratulations will be available at Government House for all to sign. This book will be forwarded to the Queen on behalf of all Nova Scotians to show our appreciation of her extraordinary support.
