AGRICULTURE/FISHERIES--Livestock Health Services Continue in Yarmouth, Digby Counties
The Nova Scotia Livestock Health Services Board has negotiated an agreement to ensure that livestock producers in Yarmouth and Digby counties have access to large-animal veterinary services around the clock.
Dr. Seigmar Doelle, owner of Sissiboo Veterinary Services in Plympton, Digby Co., has agreed to provide emergency services and conduct farm calls in the two counties.
Ernest Fage, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, approved the board's proposal last week, acknowledging that this arrangement is cost-effective and in the best interest of the local industry.
Herman Berfelo, chairman of the Livestock Health Services Board said the board fully supports the arrangement made with Dr. Doelle's practice center.
"We are pleased that livestock owners in this area will have ongoing access to animal health services," he said.
This agreement becomes effective May 31 at noon. At that time Dr. Doelle will have the only animal clinic in the area participating in the Livestock Health Services Program.
