Legislature Remembers Sydney River Victims
Members of the Nova Scotia legislature took time today, May 7, to mark the tenth anniversary of the murders at the McDonald's restaurant in Sydney River.
The legislature unanimously adopted a resolution by Deputy Premier Ron Russell to remember the three young people who lost their lives and the fourth who was seriously injured during an armed robbery.
"Sydney-area residents and all Nova Scotians were forever changed by the tragedy of May 7, 1992," said Mr. Russell, who expressed his deepest sympathy to the victims' families as they face this difficult anniversary.
Following the passage of resolutions from all sides of the legislature on the tragedy, members held a moment of silence in memory of the victims.
