N.S. Calls for Onshore Oil and Gas Exploration
PETROLEUM DIRECTORATE--N.S. Calls for Onshore Oil and Gas Exploration
The Nova Scotia Petroleum Directorate is seeking competitive bids from oil and gas companies that may be interested in exploring on a block of land in Pictou County.
In response to a request from industry, the Petroleum Directorate issued a call for proposals for a 74,654-hectare area in Pictou County. A previous exploration licence covering much of this area expired in December 2001.
The Petroleum Directorate will accept proposals for exploration on the block for a 60-day period, ending June 25. Results will be announced shortly after the closing. If an exploration agreement is issued and a subsequent work program is approved by the minister, work on the block may begin as early as this summer.
