Gaming Corporation Gains International
N.S. GAMING CORP.--Gaming Corporation Gains International Audience
The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation has been selected to present at an international responsible-gaming conference being held April 21-24 in Niagara Falls. Discoveries 2002 is being hosted by the Responsible Gambling Council of Ontario and will feature a number of speakers from seven countries.
The gaming corporation's presentation, titled Nova Scotia: Focus on Responsible Gaming, will be led by Stephen MacDonald, manager of Ticket Lotteries.
"The focus of our presentation is three-fold," said Marie Mullally, the corporation's president and CEO. "First, it will summarize Nova Scotia's innovative VLT-retailer responsible- gaming program. Second, it will describe the research by an independent firm into the effectiveness of the four responsible- gaming features integrated into the play of our VLTs. Third, it will outline the gaming corporation's three-year responsible- gaming strategy."
The gaming corporation was chosen from among 118 abstract submissions. It is one of the few organizations selected that is involved in the business of gaming.
"Over the last two years, the gaming corporation has emerged as an industry leader in the area of responsible gaming and has led the way on a number of initiatives, often breaking untried and untested ground," said Ms. Mullally. "I think that our acceptance as presenters at such a prestigious conference shows that the rest of the world is very interested in Nova Scotia's progressive approach."
Other presenters for the Discoveries 2002 conference include Alex Blaszczynski, professor with the University of Sydney in Australia, Rita Gupta from McGill University in Montreal, and Durand Jacobs, professor with Loma Linda Medical School in California. About 350 participants are expected to attend the conference.
