Support Grows for Balanced Budget
Premier John Hamm today thanked the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce for its support of Nova Scotia's first balanced budget in 40 years.
"The budget represents a milestone for our province and all Nova Scotians," said Premier Hamm. "It has not been easily achieved, but we have taken the important first step on the road to financial stability.
"A balanced budget has been long in coming. We certainly appreciate the support of the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce."
On Thursday, April 4, Finance Minister Neil LeBlanc tabled Nova Scotia's first balanced budget since 1962.
"I am very pleased with the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations across the province who have lent support to the provincial budget," said Mr. LeBlanc. "Our balanced approach was difficult, but essential to securing a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren."
This morning, the premier and finance minister met with Lois Dyer Mann, president of the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Dyer Mann presented the premier with a bottle of black ink to mark the end of deficit financing.
