Premier Hamm and Legislature Pay Tribute to Athletes

PREMIER'S OFFICE--Premier Hamm and Legislature Pay Tribute to Athletes

Team Canada was front and centre at Province House today as members of the legislature unanimously approved resolutions congratulating Canadian athletes on their recent victories.

The resolutions, introduced by Rodney MacDonald, minister responsible for the Sport and Recreation Commission, specifically recognized the Canadian Olympic hockey teams and Colleen Jones' Team Canada.

"Canadian athletes are gaining more and more respect internationally," said Mr. MacDonald. "This is partly due to the efforts of Colleen Jones and Team Canada as well as our country's talented hockey players."

Both the Canadian men's and women's Olympic hockey teams won gold medals at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Colleen Jones and Team Canada took first place at the Scott Tournament of Hearts, which was held in Brandon, Manitoba, in February.
