Maritime Museum Hosts Explosion Survivors

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic will host survivors of the 1917 Halifax Explosion on Thursday, March 14. Nova Scotians will be able to take advantage of a rare opportunity to speak with the survivors between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The event may be of particular interest to families with young children who can visit and chat with the survivors -- all of whom were children at the time of the devastating explosion 85 years ago.

Janet Kitz, author of Shattered City and other books about the Halifax Explosion, will be on hand to welcome the survivors and the visiting public.

The museum located on Lower Water Street in Halifax opened a permanent exhibit on the Halifax Explosion in 1994. Off-season admission rates apply.
