Traffic Advisory, Victoria County

The Englishtown Ferry, operating between Englishtown and Jersey Cove in Victoria County, is temporarily out of service due to slush ice.

The ferry is expected to be back in operation at about 3 p.m. today.

Between mid-winter and early spring the ferry is often hampered by slush ice, local drift ice and wind-driven sea ice.

The ferry service is maintained when conditions permit safe operation. When sea ice makes safe operation impossible, the ferry service is halted until regular service can resume.

Flashing lights inform the public when the ferry is not in operation and that an alternate land route is available.
