"Princess Margaret brought grace, style and generosity to her official duties throughout the Commonwealth," said the premier. "On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I would like to express deepest sympathies to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on the loss of her sister, Her Majesty, the Queen Mother, on the loss of her daughter and to Princess Margaret's two children on the loss of their mother."

Princess Margaret visited Nova Scotia in August 1958 and in July 1988. Premier Hamm notes that her last tour included a visit to Scotsburn, Pictou Co.
