Old Guysborough Road Closed

Snow removal crews are asking the public to stay away from Old Guysborough Road, next to Halifax International Airport.

A one-kilometre stretch of the road is closed because of very high snow drifts. Plows at both ends are having trouble reaching four cars that are stuck in drifts. The highest snowfall is in the area where motorists often stop to watch planes land and takeoff.

Transportation and Public Works crews say it may take most of the day to reopen the road. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution, and should consider avoiding travel altogether until weather conditions improve.
