DRL Coachlines Ltd. has applied to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to increase rates on its regular passenger service between Halifax and Yarmouth.

The minimum rate will increase to $8 from $7. All rates will increase by five per cent and be rounded up to the nearest dollar, with HST included. Children between the ages of two and five years will now have to pay half fare.

Anyone wishing to comment on the proposed increase should send a letter by Feb. 6 to the clerk of board, using any of the following methods:

A hearing will be held at the board offices at 1601 Lower Water St., Halifax, on Feb. 12 at 10 a.m.

The board is considering holding a hearing in Yarmouth or Bridgewater, if there is sufficient interest.
