TOURISM/CULTURE -2002 Atlantic Craft Trade Show

Retail buyers can now register for the 25th Annual Atlantic Craft Trade Show being held Feb. 2-4, at the World Trade and Convention Centre, Halifax.

The show is open exclusively to industry members and is designed to promote Atlantic Canadian crafts and giftware to buyers from across Canada, the United States and elsewhere.

"This is a very significant event for craftspeople in our region," said Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism and Culture. "The Atlantic Craft Trade Show is a great opportunity for craftspeople to showcase and sell their work to buyers from across North America. This show highlights the finest crafts this region has to offer."

The show will feature three floors of product displays showcasing the finest in home decor, candles, glass, jewellery, paintings, pottery, stone, wood and more. More than 200 producers will attend the three-day event.

"The 2002 Atlantic Craft Trade Show is especially exciting because it is the 25th anniversary of the event," said Chris Tyler, chair of this year's show. "The show has matured and has earned a great reputation as interest from buyers continues to grow each year."

Last year more than 1,300 retail buyers participated in the show and sales orders were estimated at $1.5 million.

New exhibitors from Nova Scotia include Denise Designs, Judy Matthews, and Gold Mine Nova Scotia of Halifax; Creative Vision of Truro; E van D Creations of Lawrencetown; Glass Harp Gallery and Tracy's Wood n' Things of Yarmouth; Herbs Plus of Whycocomagh; Karen Wilson Studio of Maitland; Muir-Cox Shipbuilding Centre of Shelburne; Roses Poses of Timberlea; Scrub-n-Brush Crafts of Margaree Valley; and Susan Robinson- Burnie of Granville Ferry.
