Doctors Vote to Accept New Agreement
Health Minister Jamie Muir welcomed news today that Nova Scotia's doctors have voted to accept a new three-year agreement with the provincial government.
The results of the vote were announced today by the Medical Society of Nova Scotia.
"I'm confident that this competitive new agreement will help build on our recent successes in attracting and retaining physicians," said Mr. Muir.
The minister said the offer has to be formalized into a contract, and that work will be done during the next several weeks.
The new agreement is effective from April 1, 2001 until March 31, 2004. It follows a four-year agreement that was signed in 1997 and that expired March.
