International Day of Persons with Disabilities Observed
DISABLED PERSONS COMMISSION--International Day of Persons with Disabilities Observed
Several Nova Scotia communities will provide an opportunity Dec. 3 to 10 to learn first-hand what it's like to be disabled.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed on Dec. 3. The United Nations proclaimed the day to promote understanding about disability issues. The day also increases awareness of the gains made from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
"The observance of December 3rd complements our vision of persons with disabilities participating as full citizens in all aspects of Nova Scotia society," said Peter Christie, Minister responsible for the Disabled Persons Commission.
