Works by members of the Atlantic Spinners and Handweavers are on display in Guild Hall at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, 1683 Barrington Street in Halifax. The group is promoting their upcoming pre-Christmas sale, which features distinctive handwoven and handspun articles. The sale and tea takes place Saturday, Nov. 17, and Sunday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Scott Manor House, 15 Fort Sackville Rd., in Bedford.
Members of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council are also displaying crafts at the centre as a preview of their Christmas Craft Market, which is being held in a new location this year. It will take place at Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Rd., Halifax, from Friday, Nov. 16, to Sunday, Nov. 18. This annual event features close to 100 craftspeople who are juried members of the crafts council. The annual Comfort and Joy Quilt Show and Sale is a joint project of the Mayflower Quilters Guild, quiltmakers of Nova Scotia and the QEII Foundation. The centre is displaying a quilt by guild member Marilyn Montgomery to whet the public appetite for the show and sale, which takes place Wednesday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Bethune Building, VG Site. This event is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
