Orchids Are for Everyone
The Museum of Natural History in Halifax will be abloom this weekend during the Nova Scotia Orchid Society's annual fall show and sale.
Visitors to the Museum of Natural History will have the opportunity to buy an orchid and learn about these tropical beauties on Saturday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 4.
Alex Wilson, a botanist with the museum, will also present a talk on native orchids and their tropical cousins on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The orchid show coincides with opening of a visiting exhibit from the Montreal Biodôme. Beluga: The Next Wave opens at the museum on Saturday, Nov. 3.
"This is a special weekend contrasting two exotic wonders," said Stephen Archibald, the museum's manager of interpretation. "Visitors will have the chance to enjoy the brilliant colour and delicateness of orchids and to explore the cold and mysterious world of belugas."
The Museum of Natural History is located at 1747 Summer St, Halifax. For more information call 902-424-7353.
