Old Fashioned Christmas At Sherbrooke Village To Expand
N.S. MUSEUM--Old Fashioned Christmas At Sherbrooke Village To Expand
The sixth annual Old Fashioned Christmas Festival will take place at Sherbrooke Village from Nov. 23 to Nov. 25, and from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1. The festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.
This year there will be more lights, more activities geared toward families and adults, and more festive food-related events. New to the festival are: adult craft workshops, children's Christmas videos, pancake breakfasts at the Lions Hall, a lessons and carol service at St. James Anglican Church and an adult dinner and dance.
"We conducted a client survey last year and have implemented a number of changes based on the responses we received," said Brenda Alexander, chair of the Old Fashioned Christmas Committee. "On the whole, people were very positive about the event, but they also identified some gaps in our programming that we are working to fill."
The lighting display will feature over 23,000 lights. The display will be on earlier in the evening to accommodate visitors who want to combine a visit with dining at area restaurants. These earlier hours will extend throughout the entire season, and not just during the Old Fashioned Christmas weekends.
Some of the returning activities have also been changed. The Christmas Breakfast Buffet at the Main Street Café is being extended into the second weekend of the event and the ecumenical choir service has now become an evening event on the first weekend.
The accommodations capacity of the festival has been increased this year, as well as the dining capacity. There will also be a greater variety of food available.
"We're pleased that we have more businesses and community organizations involved than ever before," said Ms. Alexander. "If community and business support continues to grow, so will the event."
