Crop insurance is intended to help farmers in times of low crop yields. It pays farmers' "out-of-pocket" expenses for crop losses

  • such as seed, fertilizer and spray -- making it possible to continue farming. The purpose of the Dairy Livestock Insurance Program is to help a producer when a significant loss in production causes a loss of income.

The commission administers 14 crop insurance plans and one livestock plan. For more information about the commission and its programs, please visit the Web site at www.gov.ns.ca/nsaf/ci/ .
