Commission Seeks Input on Children's Physical Activity
SPORT/RECREATION COMMISSION--Commission Seeks Input on Children's Physical Activity
The Sport and Recreation Commission wants Nova Scotians' views on how the province, communities, municipalities, schools and families can get more children and youth to be more physically active, more often, and in more places.
With parents reporting only one-third of Nova Scotia's children and youth physically active enough to benefit their health, the province is developing a physical activity strategy focused on reducing the number of physically inactive children and youth.
As part of this process, public consultations are being held to develop recommendations for the strategy, which is to be presented to Sport and Recreation Minister Rodney MacDonald in December 2001.
Meetings will be held across the province between Oct. 9 and Oct. 24. Each will begin at 7 p.m.
