The Nova Scotia Workers' Compensation Review Committee is holding public meetings in Sydney on Monday, Oct. 1, and Tuesday, Oct. 2. The meetings for both days will begin at 9 a.m. at Steelworkers Hall.
For the past month the committee has been booking appointments with Nova Scotians interested in workers' compensation. The committee is visiting 12 Nova Scotia communities, and has already made stops in Truro, Halifax and Amherst. It will make a second Cape Breton stop on Oct. 4 in Port Hawkesbury. The committee is seeking information on people's experience with the workers' compensation system.
The committee is studying 28 questions regarding Nova Scotia's workers' compensation system and is seeking input from those involved in the system as well as from the general public. It will submit its final report to government on March 29, 2002.
