Select Committee to Meet in Stellarton
The Select Committee on Fire Safety will hold a public meeting in Stellarton on Thursday, Sept. 27. It is the third of a series of meetings across the province. The all-party committee is looking for input from a wide cross-section of Nova Scotians as it prepares to make recommendations for a new fire safety law.
Committee members hope to hear from the public as well as those directly affected by fire safety legislation, such as insurance companies and other businesses, municipalities, and fire fighters.
Some members of the public had input into changes to the law that were introduced in June 2000 as Bill 58. Now, the government wants to widen its base of comments from the public to complete the legislation.
The Stellarton meeting takes place in Heather Hotel and convention Centre, at 130 Foord St. It begins at 7 p.m.
People wishing to attend the meeting can register by calling toll-free 1-888-388-6489 or they can simply drop in.
Input can also be submitted by leaving a message at the toll-free number. Written submissions can be sent by e-mail to [email protected], by fax to 902-424-0513, or by mail to Select Committee on Fire Safety, c/o Legislative Committees Office, P.O. Box 2630 Station M, Halifax, N.S., B3J 3N5.
