NEW WORK

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Amherst

East Fanny's Elbow Bridge on Glenville Road will be closed for repairs from Sept. 17 to Sept. 21. Detours will be available on Valley Road, Clearmont Road, and Saltsprings Road. The bridge will be closed 24 hours a day.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Amherst

Hastings Road, north of the Community of Hastings will be closed from Sept. 18 to Oct. 22 so the existing culvert can be replaced. Signs in the area will indicate the detour. The road will be closed 24 hours a day.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY; Trans-Canada Highway 104

Trans-Canada Highway 104, westbound, from Thompson Road to Oxford, will have a 1.5 kilometres, one-lane closure for crack filling from Sept. 17 to Oct. 10. Traffic control will consist of a Jersey barrier. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A 200- metre section will be closed 24 hours a day.

HALIFAX COUNTY: Highway 111

Highway 111, eastbound and westbound, from Exit 4 to Lake Micmac/Lake Banook will have alternating ramp closures for micro- surfacing on Sept. 17. Detour notices will be posted in advance of each ramp. The regular traffic advisory is in effect for all other days. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Hawkesbury

Port Malcolm Bridge on Port Malcolm Road will be closed so it can be replaced from Sept. 17 to Sept. 25. The public is urged to find alternative routes. The bridge will be closed 24 hours a day.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Route 316

Route 316, from the intersection of Antigonish and Guysborough roads, is reduced to one lane for asphalt concrete repaving until Oct. 31. Traffic control consists of a pilot vehicle. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Trunk 4, Big Pond

Trunk 4 from Loch Lomond Road to Glen Albert Road is under construction for upgrading, cold planing, gravelling and asphalt concrete repaving until Oct. 31. There are traffic control and construction signs. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Cobequid Pass

Trans-Canada Highway 104 will have a one-lane closure in both the westbound and eastbound lanes for a paving, grading and shouldering project until Sept. 30. Traffic control will consist of barrels and flashing lights. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Stewiacke Bridge overpass at Exit 11 northbound, on Highway 102, will have alternating lane closures for bridge rehabilitation until Oct. 31. Traffic control will consist of Jersey barrier, drums and flashing lights. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends as required.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Highway 102, Stewiacke River Bridge

The Stewiacke River Bridge, northbound and southbound, 4.8 kilometres north from the Hants County line, will have alternating lane closures for bridge rehabilitation until Sept. 31. Traffic control consists of Jersey barrier, drums and flashing lights. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on weekends as required.

Highway 104, eastbound, at both the North River Bridge and the Route 311 overpass will have alternating lane closures for bridge and overpass rehabilitation until Oct. 31. Traffic control consists of Jersey barrier, drums and flashing lights. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends as required.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Hilden Road Overpass

The Hilden Road overpass, located approximately five kilometres south of Exit 13 on Highway 102, will have alternating lane closures for bridge rehabilitation until Oct 31. Traffic control consist of Jersey barrier, drums and flashing lights. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends as required.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Mines-Bass River Road

Mines-Bass River Road is closed due to culvert washout and collapse. The detour for Mines-Bass River Road is expected to remain in effect until Sept. 21.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Upper Stewiacke

Route 289 will have a one-lane closure near Upper Stewiacke for paving and bridge repairs until Oct. 31. Traffic control consists of flag persons and a pilot vehicle. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Valley

The Valley Bridge will undergo repairs until Nov. 30. Traffic will be routed through the work area by a temporary gravel surface detour and by the one-lane Bailey Bridge over Salmon River.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Amherst

Route 366 (Tyndal Road), will have a one-lane closure, beginning eight kilometres east of Trunk 6 to Green Road, until Sept. 30. Traffic control consists of traffic control persons and a pilot vehicle. Motorists should expect delays. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

HALIFAX COUNTY: Highway 111

Highway 111, eastbound and westbound lanes, will have one or two lanes closed during construction for micro-surfacing from Exit 4 to the bridge at Lake Micmac/Lake Banook, about 1.3 kilometres. Work will take place until Sept. 21. Traffic control consists of cones, flashing lights and barrels. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Possible night-time or weekend work. Hours are subject to change.

HALIFAX COUNTY: Sheet Harbour

The Little River Bridge at Route 224 will be reduced to one lane for maintenance until Sept. 28. Traffic control will consist of traffic lights. The bridge will be reduced to one lane for 24 hours a day.

HANTS COUNTY: Elmsdale Road Underpass Structure

Elmsdale Road underpass structure on Highway 102 at Exit 8, is under construction for bridge rehabilitation. Lanes will be reduced to three metres in width until Oct. 15. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101

Highway 101 at Mount Uniacke will have traffic stopped in both directions for brief periods in order to allow blasting to take place. Blasting will occur until April 2002. Work takes place from 6 a.m to 7 p.m.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Port Hawkesbury

Trunk 19 from Campbell Road, northerly about 3.6 kilometres, will have a one-lane closure for pulverization, widening, gravelling and asphalt paving until Oct. 15. Traffic control consists of traffic control persons and a pilot vehicle. Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

KINGS COUNTY: Black River Road, New Minas

One section of Black River Road will be closed for Benjamin culvert replacements until Sept. 21. A detour is available by way of Gaspereau River Road and White Rock Road. Work takes place 24 hours a day.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Rosebank Bridge

Repairs to Rosebank Bridge will take place until Sept. 15. Traffic is reduced to one lane with traffic lights installed. Work takes place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

QUEENS COUNTY: Route 208

Crews are conducting asphalt and concrete repaving from the Lunenburg-Queens county line westward for 6 km on Route 208. Alternating lane closures are in effect. Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 28. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Seal Island Bridge, Baddeck

One lane will remain open on the Seal Island Bridge (also known as Great Bras d'Or Bridge) while crews conduct deck replacement work. The work will take place until Nov 16. Traffic control will consist of traffic lights.
