Traffic Advisory, Shelburne County

Highway 103 at Sable River is expected to re-open to one lane of traffic around 5 p.m. today, following an accident this afternoon. Drivers should slow down while RCMP conduct their investigation.

Until both lanes reopen, drivers planning to travel on Highway 103 between Yarmouth and Halifax might want to consider taking Highway 101 through the Annapolis Valley instead.

The accident, which occurred near the Tom Tigney Bridge in Shelburne County, involved a mini-van and a tractor trailer carrying cars. The railing of the Tom Tigney Bridge was destroyed in the accident and the vehicles caught fire. A concrete barrier will be used as a temporary railing.
