2nd Annual Oyster Shucking Challenge
Provincial shucking champ Jason Dunphy of Cape Breton will defend his title at the 2nd annual Nova Scotia Oyster Shucking Challenge, Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Brewery Market in Halifax.
The event will take place at the Brewery Market Exterior Courtyard on the Lower Water Street. Shucking begins at 10 a.m.
The winner will receive $300 cash and an all-expense-paid trip to compete as Nova Scotia's shucking champ at the International PEI Shellfish Festival at Peakes Wharf in Charlottetown in September.
This event began last year as a way to get a competitive representative for Nova Scotia at other events and to promote Nova Scotia oysters and the oyster industry in the province.
The competition is guaranteed fun for the whole family. New entrants are encouraged to sign up and show off their shucking abilities.
