Minister Names Veinot as Commissioner

Milton Veinot has been appointed by Environment and Labour Minister David Morse as commissioner according to the provisions of the Trade Union Act to hold an inquiry into the state of collective bargaining in the health sector of the province of Nova Scotia.

The commissioner will hear submissions from the Nova Scotia Nurses Union, the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union and the province of Nova Scotia and will hold selected public meetings.

A public report will be issued and may be considered part of the process in developing legislation to provide a fair dispute resolution mechanism for the renewal of collective agreements for employees within the health care sector.
