Nova Scotia Business Inc. CEO Named

Economic Development (Aug. 1999 - Jan. 2009)

A financial industry professional with 20 years of business experience is the new president and chief executive officer of Nova Scotia Business Incorporated (NSBI).

Stephen Lund will assume his new role on July 16. He will lead Nova Scotia's new Crown corporation, which is responsible for increasing trade, investment and business development throughout the province.

"Stephen has a strong background in private sector operations and financial management and a good track record of success," said NSBI chairman Dan Potter. "As a key driver in Nova Scotia's venture capital industry, he knows what it takes for companies to grow and succeed. His detailed analysis of companies and his experience on numerous boards will be invaluable in shaping the new Crown corporation."

Most recently, Stephen was vice president of Working Ventures Canadian Fund, where he was responsible for all investing activities for the fund in Atlantic Canada. Prior to that he spent five years in the international investment funds field.

He has worked on economic development issues for many industry groups, associations and chambers.

Stephen is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and holds an MBA from Queen's University.

NSBI's mandate is to stimulate economic development opportunities throughout Nova Scotia. The private sector-led corporation will manage and co-ordinate the province's front-line business development functions. Core business lines of the corporation will be consistent with approaches identified in the economic growth strategy, Opportunities for Prosperity, released by the government last fall and will include investment attraction, business retention and expansion and trade activities.
