Nova Scotia IT Company Signs Deal in Atlanta

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT-Nova Scotia IT Company Signs Deal in Atlanta

A Halifax software manufacturer, diaphonics Inc., has delivered a clear message that Nova Scotia information technology products are leaders in North American markets. The company has signed a contract with a major distributor at the Team Canada Atlantic Trade Mission.

The agreement means that Telecomm and Computer Marketing (TCM) of Atlanta will act as a distributor for diaphonics’ voice recognition software in the United States.

"This is our first U.S. vendor. TCM has really good links into the telecommunications industry and is developing links into the finance market," said Jeremy Bernard of diaphonics Inc. "They effectively expand our sales force and improve our speed in getting products to market."

"Agreements such as the one signed today are the reason why our government organizes trade missions," said Premier John Hamm. "This deal will help a rising Nova Scotia information technology firm reach a new market, expand its sales and continue to grow."

The premier noted that increasing exports and expanding investment are two of the key directions outlined last fall in Opportunities for Prosperity, the province’s economic growth strategy. Last year Nova Scotia trade missions generated $24 million in new sales for participating companies.

Telecomm and Computer Marketing says it is impressed with diaphonics products and believes they will sell well to a hungry telecommunications industry.

"The software helps companies improve the way they interact with customers, and that’s a key demand in the global economy," said Herb Stover of Telecomm and Computer Marketing.

The natural language speech recognition and unique security features of diaphonics’ products allow organizations to conduct valid and secure automated voice transactions. The company already works with global partners, including Deloitte and Touche, Ernst and Young and Nuance Communications, to bring voice transaction management products to world markets. The agreement with Telecomm and Computer Marketing further expands the company’s network of potential clients.
