Theodore Too Will Visit Sherbrooke on July 6

The world’s friendliest tugboat is coming to Sherbrooke.

Theodore Too, the 65-foot (20-metre) replica vessel of Theodore Tugboat will be cruising the historic St. Mary’s River on July 6 during the St. Mary’s Boat Club Family Fun Day.

The fun day, at the marina at Sawmill Landing, will feature food, family entertainment, games and free deck tours of Theodore Too.

The St. Mary’s Boat Club will be partnering with Sherbrooke Village, the St. Mary’s PDC office and a number of community organizations to host Family Fun Day as part of the District of St. Mary’s Summer Celebrations.

Theodore Too is based on the star of the acclaimed children¹s television series aired on the CBC in Canada and PBS across the United States, and seen in 80 countries around the world.

Since his launch, Theodore has been officially named the North American Ambassador for Safe Boating, and has helped tens of thousands of families learn how to be safe while having fun in the water.

In recent months, Theodore Too has been sharing his friendly smile and safety messages with audiences in the southeastern United States. Theodore was parade marshal for the Bellsouth Winterfest Boat Parade from Port Everglades to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Dec. 16. With an onshore crowd of 800,000 to one million people, this is one of the world''s premiere boating events.

While audiences may be smaller in Sherbrooke than in the southern Unites States, Theodore Too will not want for friendship, since the World’s Friendliest Tugboat will be visiting one of the world’s friendliest villages.

The St. Mary’s Boat Club is a subcommittee of the St. Mary’s Tourism Association, and was formed to promote recreational boating in the area.

Safe boating is a prime issue with the club, which has been involved in such activities as marking piers in the river, installing a floating dock and launch ramp and dredging around the ramp.

The group is undertaking a feasibility study for a new marina adjacent to Sherbrooke Village. Proceeds from the nominal admission to Family Fun Day will go towards supporting this project.

Theodore Tugboat is produced by Halifax-based Cochran Entertainment, which produces quality family programming, with a special focus on children’s series and films.
