Best Wishes for Helen MacDonald

Premier John Hamm expressed best wishes to retiring NDP Leader Helen MacDonald. Earlier today, Ms. MacDonald announced her intention to step down as party leader.

"For over 30 years, Helen has worked within the ranks of the NDP for her vision of a better Nova Scotia," said the premier. "Although recent circumstances did not work out as well as she would have liked, I wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter in her life. With her background in education, community service and public life, Helen will continue to make a worthwhile contribution to the province."

Premier Hamm added that, while he will miss Ms. MacDonald’s active involvement on the province’s political scene, he hopes she will find more time to spend with her family and friends.
