NSLC and Global Win First Place

The Nova Scotia Liquor Commission’s "You Can’t" television commercial has won first place in the Public Service category of the Retail Comp Awards.

The competition, organized by the Television Bureau of Canada, helps advertisers evaluate the production of retail commercials. Consumers, rather than creative experts, judge the commercials.

Global Television produced the commercial, which is part of an advertising campaign that promotes the message "Drinking and Driving Kills!"

This commercial is the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission’s first use of electronic media to promote the safe use of beverage alcohol products.

"We are pleased to be recognized with an award for our efforts to encourage our customers to drink responsibly," said Bruce Rogers, executive director of Retail Services.

The commission’s other social responsibility programs include:
Don’t Buy for Minors, Check 25, Plan Ahead to Get Home Safe, Safe Graduation, Ride Free and Blue Thunder.
