PREMIER’S OFFICE--Congratulations to Nova Scotia’s World Champions
Premier John Hamm today congratulated the members of Team Canada on winning the women’s world curling championship. Led by skip Colleen Jones, the members from Halifax’s Mayflower curling club won the women’s title Saturday in Lausanne, Switzerland.
"All Nova Scotians are tremendously proud of our women’s curling team, who proved they are the world’s best," said the premier. "On behalf of the people of Nova Scotia, I would like to congratulate skip Colleen Jones and her team on this historic victory."
In addition to Ms. Jones, Team Canada consisted of Kim Kelly, Mary Anne Waye and Nancy Delahunt, all of Halifax; alternate Laine Peters of Halifax; and coach Ken Bagnell of Tantallon.
Premier Hamm will introduce a resolution later today in the legislature paying tribute to Colleen Jones and her teammates.
