Budget Bulletin: Government Communications Consolidated

The process of consolidating all of government’s communications services under one roof is complete. Communications Nova Scotia, government’s central communications agency, now houses all government communications staff and has direct or oversight responsibility for all communications-related functions.

The approximately 40 communications directors and officers employed by the province are in turn assigned departmental responsibilities. Government’s total complement of communications personnel has remained constant over the past two years.

As a result of this and other changes, the Communications Nova Scotia’s budget increased about $1.2 million. Other changes include consolidation of government print operations at the agency and an accounting change designed to show the full costs of communications-related activities and to capture some internal efficiencies.
