Premier Hamm Congratulates St. FX

Premier John Hamm extended his congratulations today to the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men on their victory at the CIAU men’s basketball finals. St. FX defeated the Brandon Bobcats Sunday at the Halifax Metro Centre by a score of 83-76 in overtime.

"This is the third time that St. FX has won this title in the past decade,” said Premier Hamm. “This impressive record speaks volumes to the dedicated coaching of Steve Konchalski and to the talent of these young men.

"With a 20-0 record this year, St. FX has completed a perfect season and set a new CIAU record. Their victory cemented the fact that they are the best basketball team in the country. I am very proud that the CIAU trophy will remain in Nova Scotia."

Premier Hamm also extended congratulations to the longtime St. FX coach. Mr. Konchalski won the CIAU coach of the year award on Thursday.
