MacDonald Assigned Sport and Recreation

Premier John Hamm today announced that Rodney MacDonald will assume responsibilities as minister responsible for the Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission.

"As someone whose professional teaching duties included physical education, Rodney MacDonald is acutely aware of the importance of active living to a healthy lifestyle," said Premier Hamm. "This change makes sense at a time when the Sport and Recreation Commission is embarking on a major strategy to improve physical activity levels, especially among young people in the province."

The change in ministerial duties is effective today. In addition to his new portfolio, Mr. MacDonald will continue to serve as minister of Tourism and Culture, minister responsible for Youth and minister responsible for the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission.
