Course on Outdoor Survival
For Nova Scotians enjoying the outdoors, knowing how to survive in the outdoors is important. A course on outdoor survival is being held at Kingswood Camp, at Lake George in Kings County, March 2 to March 4.
Offered by the Nova Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission's Outdoor Leadership Development Committee, the Outdoor Survival Course simulates survival situations and teaches participants how to use resources available to them.
How to keep warm, conserve energy and survive psychologically are among key concepts taught. A final exercise identifies each participant's survival strengths -- human, mental, physical, environmental, and equipment -- and the areas requiring improvement.
Outdoor Survival is for people over the age of 17 years, and costs $55 for students, and $65 for adults.
