HEALTH- Minister of Health Appoints Four Members to Provincial Health Council
The Minister of Health has appointed four members to the Provincial Health Council bringing the number of council members to twelve.
The newly appointed members are Harry Churchill from Bedford and Mildred Noiles from Amherst. As well, Dr. Mahmood Naqvi from Sydney and Catherine Randall from Halifax have been reappointed to a second term.
The Provincial Health Council is legislated to advise government in developing health policy, goals and objectives and to advise in the overall direction of the health care system in Nova Scotia.
Health Minister Jamie Muir said he was pleased to have the council membership returned to full complement.
"The Provincial Health Council has a good mix of people serving on its board," said Mr. Muir. "These people bring varied backgrounds, but they all have proven records. The newly appointed members are no exception. We look forward to receiving the advice they will give to our province."
The 12 board members represent all regions of the province, reflect Nova Scotia's ethnic and cultural diversity, have solid track records in community service and have exhibited a broad interest or have had first-hand experience in the health care field.
