Info Sessions to Be Held Across Province
Community groups can learn more about funding for environmental projects at information sessions that will be held across Nova Scotia beginning Tuesday, Nov. 28.
The Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour and Environment Canada will sponsor the two-hour sessions, which will take place in nine communities.
One of the groups presenting information at the sessions will be the Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps. The corps employs Nova Scotia youth aged 17 to 24 to work as part of a crew in their communities. They work on projects in the areas of watershed management, waste diversion, pollution prevention, climate change and environmental education. They also promote public awareness about the environment. The corps' theme is People and Nature. Working.
"Local groups have the best ideas for what kind of environmental projects they need most in their area," said Angus MacIsaac, acting Minister of Environment and Labour. "We can share information on the money and resources available."
Other government agencies presenting information are the Go for Green Fund, the Community Animation Program Atlantic and EcoAction Community Funding Program.
Each session will include time for discussion and participants will have an opportunity to network and develop project ideas.
